Background

With the popularization of clean energy, the proportion of solar energy in the energy system continues to rise. Effectively monitoring the consumption of solar energy in the system is beneficial for owners to optimize energy system design. Therefore, reintroducing a 24-hour load monitoring function in clean energy systems is crucial and meaningful. In the context of photovoltaic (PV) systems, 24-hour load monitoring refers to the continuous monitoring of electrical loads over a 24-hour period. This practice is essential for understanding and managing energy consumption patterns throughout the day, which helps optimize the design and operation of PV systems. As shown in Figure 1

GoodWe Solution

GoodWe currently offers a number of different series of inverters, including energy storage inverters and on-grid inverters, these products can be simply categorized into single-unit and multi-unit in photovoltaic systems. Consequently, the solutions for achieving 24-hour load monitoring will vary depending on the specific inverters being used. GoodWe 24-hour load monitoring function requires the inverter to continuously transmit load data to the monitoring platform (SEMS). To achieve load data transmission in a photovoltaic system, a load monitoring device (such as a meter and CT) is used to detect the voltage and current of the load, and a communication module (such as a Wi-Fi module) is used to transmit the relevant data. The typical load monitoring system is as following:

Due to the characteristics of energy storage inverters, where the DC side, AC side, and battery can all serve as power sources for connected meter, the single energy storage inverter can efficiently provide power to these different type meters even at night to achieve the 24H load monitoring function.
